Good Eats In Trastevere

Rome has much more to offer than just the city center (Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and the Spanish Steps). Other beautiful and must see areas include the Colosseum and Roman Forum, the Vatican, and one of the places we visited on the other side of the Tiber River called Trastevere (which in Latin literally means the other side of the Tiber). Trastevere, although only a 10 to 15 minute walk from the city center, has a much different vibe that many describe as “funky” or “bohemian”.

Now if you are a tourist like me, but you want to try real authentic Italian food, your best bet is doing The Roman Food Tour. This was our second time doing this tour (the first time we did it in Prati), and it did not disappoint! Our guide, Francesca, was so knowledgeable about the area, the food, and the wine. During this tour we learned (AND TASTED) all about high quality Italian wines (D.O.C. and D.O.C.G.), aged balsamic vinegar, truffles, different meats and cheeses, and how to spot REAL gelato! Check out the video below to see all this food tour has to offer!

I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Rome, as it is not only a great way to taste authentic and DELICIOUS Italian food, but a great way to see the city and meet new people! We happened to be on a tour with 6 other people from Chicago and one of them was on our flight home (talk about a small world)! Also, I think it is safe to say the gelato I had on this food tour was the best of our whole trip!
